What it is

What a brake jobactually includes

Brakes are a system rather than a single part, so we look at all of it before quoting any of it.

Pads and rotors

We measure pad thickness and rotor runout, then tell you whether the rotors can be turned or want replacing.

Calipers and hardware

Sticking calipers, seized slide pins and worn hardware cause most of the uneven wear we see.

Lines and fluid

Brake lines, hoses and fluid condition. Moisture in old fluid is a common cause of a soft pedal.

Tell us what it's doing

You do not need to know the name of the part. Describe the noise, the feeling or the light, and we will take it from there. Most estimates go out the same business day.

If you would rather talk it through, call (605) 339-9717 and describe what it is doing.

We answer Monday through Friday during shop hours, and we will only use your details to get back to you about your vehicle.

Before you come in

Questions we get about brake repair

Grinding means the pads are gone and the rotors are taking the wear, so that one wants looking at this week. Squealing, a soft pedal or pulling to one side are all worth an inspection. If you are unsure, bring it in and we will measure it for free.

Most pad and rotor jobs are done the same day. If a caliper or line needs replacing and the part has to come in, we will tell you that on the first call so you can plan around it.

Sometimes. We measure the rotor thickness and check for runout, and if there is enough material we will tell you so. You will get the readings either way rather than just an answer.

It depends on the vehicle and how much of the system is involved, which is why we measure first and call with a number before starting. Ask us and we will give you a range over the phone.
